Soap Information
Our soap has a base containing Coconut, Olive and Vegetable Oils. We use the minimal amount of lye (sodium hydroxide) necessary to produce the soap or "saponification" process. Therefore, our soaps generally take between 3 and 5 weeks to "cure" or harden. This is the period of time it takes the excess moisture to evaporate, thus hardening. Also the saponification process is then complete. Believe it or not, we then "wash off" any salty, ash residue that may be left on top, cut it up, wrap and ship it off!
If you look at the ingredient labels you'll notice that the first oils listed, along with the water and lye, are the base ingredients. The second line is everything we add in just before we pour the soap out into tray molds. This is referred to as "superfatting". We use Creams, milks, rich carrier oils such as Jojoba, Avocado, Emu, Rosehip Seed, Comfrey, Carrot, etc. Butters, such as Cocoa, Avocado and Kokum. Various herbs, plants, flowers, roots, spices and things like honey, molasses and aloe vera. We put a lot of wonderful ingredients into our soap, along with a lot of care. Each bar is guaranteed 135g, but ususally weigh in at @ 145g.
Because we handmake and handcut all our soaps, there may be slight differences in colour and size, but you will always receive the right weight and same excellent quality of product. 20 years in the Skin Care & Soap-Making industry has taught us humility and patience (well, most of the time!) and so we humbly offer our Products to you with True Canadian Pride...
